CITI Training Information

Georgia Tech is a member of the Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI).  The CITI has developed a web-based course hosted by the University of Miami for investigators and other key personnel involved in human subjects research.

Go to www.citiprogram.org to register for a user name and password.

When you are ready to begin the course, you will need to choose the appropriate to your research activities. You should choose either Biomedical or Social/Behavioral and then hit the “Submit” button.  You do not have to complete all the modules at one time.  You may come and go from the site after any module. To re-enter the site go to www.citiprogram.org and enter your  user name and password. Once in the site you will be able to look up which modules have yet to be completed. The time required to complete each unit varies between 10 minutes and 30 minutes. The total time required is estimated to be 2-3 hours. Units must be taken sequentially.

After completing the “HOT TOPICS” and “Conflict of Interest” modules you must go to the GA Tech Institutional Page to complete the required modules.  From the GA Tech Institutional Page you will complete the required modules and a confirmation of completion will be sent to the GA Tech Office of Research Compliance. You should click on the “Continue to Georgia Institute of Technology” link. Review the information on the page and then at the bottom of the page click on “Go to the grade book/course menu.”

In order to print your completion report and certificate you must click on “View completion report.” A new window will open and you will see your certificate of completion.  The Georgia Tech Office of Research Compliance will automatically receive electronic notification from CITI of your completion.  However, you should print your completion report just in case verification is needed.
